You Can Now Easily Attach A Motor To Your Everyday Bike
This simple solution helps you turn your old bike into a modern e-bike that helps you pedal on any surface.
E-bikes are hardly new, but the demand for electric bikes has never been higher. In fact, e-bike sales are expected to reach $120 billion by 2030. That’s 3X compared to 2020.
Skarper, a London-based startup, developed a clip-on battery that turns almost any regular bike into an e-bike. The battery is called DiskDrive. You install it by attaching it to the rear brake disk on your bike.
Alastair Darwood, the founder, came up with the idea during the covid lockdown when he was searching for the best e-bike to buy.
He didn’t want to spend too much on a new bike but wasn’t thrilled with the available conversion products. The conversion kits were awkward and didn’t fit most existing bike frames.
He was looking for less invasive ways to turn an ordinary bike into an e-bike. That’s when he thought of the rear brake disk.
“I looked at the wheels and disc brakes and realized there was quite a bit of space between the back of the rotor and the wheel as it tapers into the tire, and I wondered if you could actually drive a bike wheel only using the disc brake.”
The e-bike market has been booming with innovations in the last few years.

Tozero Is Developing A Process to Recycle Lithium Batteries
A German startup claims it has the knowledge to recycle lithium-ion batteries and decrease the environmental footprint of the battery industry.
In the search for clean sources of energy, recycling existing lithium batteries remains one of the biggest challenges we have to solve.
Lithium-ion batteries are one of the best available solutions for decarbonized energy. The problem is how we source lithium.
The world is too dependent on countries that mine lithium. In fact, we’re willing to look the other way as these countries use mining techniques that are bad for the environment.
Add to this the recent geopolitical tensions, and it becomes clear why it’s so important we recycle old batteries.
Tozero, a German startup, is working on a new process that will help them recover critical elements from lithium-ion batteries. If all goes to plan, the company will be able to recover lithium, nickel, and cobalt, among other elements.
This is hardly the first try at recycling lithium-based batteries. Redwood Materials and Li-Cycle are two companies that both raised more than $500 million to solve the lithium battery recycling problem.
Tozero raised €3.5 million in a pre-seed financing round. The company will use the money to build a prototype plant in Munich, Germany. By 2030, one-third of Europe’s lithium-ion batteries are expected to be manufactured here.
It’s hard to think of an interesting name for a battery brand, right? Our battery brand name generator can help. You can generate interesting name ideas for a new battery brand.

The startup has been awarded an Indian patent for Agnilet.
It’s going to be interesting watching what the company does with the patent and how that will impact the development of single-piece space rockets.

A Solution That Puts B2B Buyers At The Center of The Sales Process
Valuecase is a Hamburg-based SAAS startup that helps B2B sellers improve their buying and onboarding processes with digital tech.
The company developed a platform that revolutionizes B2B sales with a buyer-centric approach that improves the entire buyer journey.
Valuecase co-founder Lennart Prange explains:
“B2B sellers still engage prospects like they did 15 years ago: PDFs, lots of meetings, and endless email ping-pong. This makes buying cumbersome and nerve-racking. B2C companies, on the other hand, are obsessed with creating the smoothest buying process possible for their customers. Our vision is to bring this buyer-centric philosophy to B2B.”
Valuecase closed €3.5 million in pre-seed funding. The company will use the funds to support the go-to-market strategy and future product development.
