Why Should I Register A Business Name In India

There are many unregistered businesses in India due to issues with finances and accessibility. This may make you feel that not registering your business or its name will slip under the radar unnoticed. Whilst this may be the case for many companies, there are benefits that you will miss out on should you not register. Here are some of them;

  • Registering a business ensures that you are open to receiving funding opportunities.
  • Opening a business bank account becomes easier and more accessible, as there is ample proof that your entity exists and that you are not unregistered to transact business.
  • Having Limited Liability Protection ensures that any shareholders or owners of your company will not be held accountable for any losses or debts that your business may run into. If an unregistered business faced this situation, they would have to face their losses in their own pocket.

If your ideal business name is already in use, you may have to come up with a new one. Because of this, it’s a good idea to make sure you have several name options prepared before getting started. Use these guidelines to create suitable names:

(a) Don’t use any kind of profanity or offensive terms.

(b) Ending terms like “Limited” or “Co.” won’t be regarded as being similar to other company names, as these are words that are used often.

(c) Names cannot be changed only slightly, such as changing a singular word to plural, changing the spacing between the names, or through the use of phonetic spelling.
