Frequently Asked Questions

You can register your business name using the SPICe (Simplified Proforma for Incorporating Company electronically) program.

Useful information:

– Your computer will need to be able to meet certain requirements in order to use the program.

– SPICe is broken up into SPICe and SPICe+. The latter includes downloading a program while the former is simply a form needed to register your company.

The simplest way to register a business name is to use the SPICe+ program. Make sure you have the following pieces of information on hand:

– The name(s) of those starting the business, as well as accepted forms of ID.

– The location of the business and the individual(s) registering it.

– Name of the organization.

If your ideal business name is already in use, you may have to come up with a new one. Because of this, it’s a good idea to make sure you have several name options prepared before getting started. Use these guidelines to create suitable names:

(a) Don’t use any kind of profanity or offensive terms.

(b) Ending terms like “Limited” or “Co.” won’t be regarded as being similar to other company names, as these are words that are used often.

(c) Names cannot be changed only slightly, such as changing a singular word to plural, changing the spacing between the names, or through the use of phonetic spelling.
