Search business name availability

After you’ve come up with some name ideas for your business, you’ll want to take a look into businesses that already exist. Luckily, on the Secretary of State website, you’ll find a handy search feature that allows you to take a look through LLCs and Corporations by name.

If you have questions about the process or want a more personal experience, you can also call or email the Business Services department as well.

Another option you can select is to send in a Corporate Name Availability Inquiry Form. This will allow the Business Services department to look into their records and check for your desired name. Keep in mind that this process will take longer than doing a quick search yourself, but some may prefer the deeper check into name availability.
